Non-Western Instrument Terms
In the first part of unit, we learned about grouping instruments into families. Instruments are classified by sound, how they’re played, and the materials used to create them. In this section, we will use four general terms for instruments not found in a traditional Western orchestra. The four terms we will use for this lesson are chordophones, aerophones, membranophones, and idiophones.
