Color (continued)
An artist has numerous possibilities for his palette, or colors she chooses to use. The hue can be made lighter by adding a color to white (tint) or darker (shade) by adding black to a color. Artists can also employ a color scheme. Some examples include:
- Warm: variety of reds and yellows
- Cool: variety of blues and greens
- Complementary: colors opposite each other on the color wheel
- Monotone: various tints and shade of one hue
- Analogous: 3-5 colors that lie next to each other on the wheel
