Teacher/Assessment Administrator’s Quick Assessment Checklist for
TerraNova, Third Edition,
Multiple Assessments and CAT Plus Mathematics
Computation for Levels 1 and 2 ELL Students
This Quick Checklist provides the essential tasks to be accomplished prior to, during, and following the
assessment at each school. Refer to the indicated pages in this manual for the complete information for
each task.
Prior to the Assessment
(pages 5–8)
Announce the assessment dates and assessment schedule in advance. explain the
purpose of the assessment.
Administer the appropriate Practice Activities prior to the actual assessment. Careful
checking of the Practice Activities will identify those students who may need extra
help with the mechanics of taking assessments. The completed Practice Activities may
be sent home to parents for review.
Gather your assessment materials:
• Several No. 2 pencils with erasers per student
• Calculators
• A “Do Not Disturb” sign (photocopy the sign on the back cover of this manual,
if needed)
• A watch or clock with a second hand (a stopwatch is recommended)
• Scratch paper
Review the Test Directions for Teachers.
You may not review the test.
During Each Day of the Assessment
Ensure that you have the correct assessment materials for your class.
Check all information on the Roster that accompanies the CTB Barcode Labels
for Multiple Assessments and the Student Information Forms for CAT Plus. If the
student’s precode information is inaccurate, or if the student did not receive precode
information, please complete all information on the inside front cover of his or her
student book.
If they are able, students may complete the following information: student’s name,
teacher’s name, names of school and district, student’s grade, student’s birth date, and
student’s gender.
If students are not able to complete their portion of the identifying information,
complete all the student-identifying information, including the correct birth date, on
the inside front cover of the student books or on the precoded Student Information
Forms prior to distributing them.
Review all data for accuracy.
