Neoclassicism in America

Architectural traditions have long been impacted by ancient Greek and Roman models. One example is Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello (1769-1809), which greatly resembles the Roman Pantheon (118-126). The period in America in which this structure was built is known as the Neoclassical period—a time in which people reverted back to the ancient classical era of Greece and Rome.
