Sculpture: Introduction

Since the beginning of time, man has produced three-dimensional works. Some objects were functional, while others were for rituals and ceremonies. For example, spearheads were carved out of flint to hunt animals for food, vessels were created to cook and hold food and water, and clay representations of horses were sculpted and buried to assist the dead in the afterlife.
This unit will provide you with an in-depth look at 3-D sculptural processes, and overviews of other types of 3D works, and earthworks.
