Graphing a Circle with a Center (h, k)

The circle does not necessarily have to have a center at the origin. The center can be anywhere on the coordinate plane. We define the center of a circle as the point (h, k).

Standard Equation of a Translated Circle

The standard equation for a circle with its center at (h, k) and a radius of r is:

(x – h)2 + (y – k)2 = r2
