Conic sections include the following four shapes:

• Parabolas
• Circles
• Ellipses
• Hyperbolas

These shapes are found in nature, architecture, and technology. For example Halley’s Comet travels in an elliptical orbit. Roller coasters are built with conic sections in mind. Hyperbolas are used in long range navigation devices. The uses and applications of conic sections are endless. In this section we are going to discuss each of the conic sections, how these conic sections are graphed, and we will learn how to write the equations of each of the conic sections.
