Writing the Equation of a Parabola
Suppose you are given some information about a parabola and then asked to write the equation. You may be given the vertex, the focus, the directrix, and/or the axis of symmetry. Using the information you have learned about the general equations of parabolas, you can use the information to go find a specific equation.
Your teacher asks you to get into pairs and work through finding the equation of a parabola. Work with your partner to come up with the correct equation.
