Arroz con Leche

Arroz con leche, or rice pudding, is a common dessert in Spanish-speaking countries.  In España, you will find the dish made with rice, sugar, milk, cinnamon, and lemon.  In Latin America, you might sample arroz con leche made with condensed milk and cinnamon.  Another variation you might find in Puerto Rico where arroz con leche might be made with coconut milk, sugar, and cinnamon.

Another popular dessert in Spanish-speaking countries is flanFlan, or caramel custard, is made with eggs, milk and sugar.  It is made in a mold with caramelized sugar on the bottom of custard that is baked and then inverted, spilling caramel down over the custard.  This is a slow process but creates great rewards.  In some Spanish-speaking countries, you will find cups of premade flan (similar to the US’s pudding cups) in grocery and convenience stores.  Flan has also been made to accommodate many tastes with different flavors.
