El Almuerzo
Breakfast isn't the only meal of the day. Remember, the main meal of the day in Spanish-speaking countries is called el almuerzo. This meal is generally eaten at about 2:00 in the afternoon and is rarely eaten in a rush. Here, we will just talk about general things that might be eaten for el almuerzo.

Also commonly eaten for el almuerzo as well as at other times of the day are las frutas. With twenty-one Spanish-speaking countries, it is important to keep in mind that there are variations in terms used to refer to different items. In many parts of México, Central America and South America, the banana is called el plátano. While this is a common term in these areas, it is also known as la banana.
