Tsukiji Central Wholesale Market

The Tsukiji Central Wholesale Fish Market (築地魚市場) is a large wholesale market for fish, fruits and vegetables in central Tokyo. The Tsukiji market is best known as one of the world’s largest fish markets, handling over 787,782 tons in a year (2,888 tons of marine products per day). The market opens at five and starts receiving fresh goods from various parts of the world by truck, plane and ship. Some 450 kinds of fish are received. After 8 decades in its original location, the market was moved to Toyosu (also in the Tokyo area) in October of 2018.
