Welcome to Descriptions, けいよう

Umeda Sky Buildings

Osaka
Osaka is the second largest city in Japan. The Umeda Sky Buildings, two spectacular high rise buildings, were completed in March 1993. One of the striking features of the buildings is that their roofs are connected via an aerial garden “Floating Garden Observatory” on the 39th floor. In this unit, we are going to learn to talk about people with regard to their nationalities and also to describe things and people in more detail.

You must keep in mind that fluency in Japanese (or any foreign language) does not happen over night. It may seem to be a very slow process to you but it is one that is achieved the more you practice and seek ways to use your new skills.

Can-Do for this unit:

  1. describe yourself and others using I-adjective and NA-adjective.
  2. describe yourself and others using Noun and です.
  3. learn more of the past tense verbs in Japanese.
  4. learn to talk about people's nationalities.
  5. learn about how to quote.
  6. learn about some of famous sites in Japan.
  7. learn about Japanese poet Kenji Miyazawa.

You should keep in mind that during the course of this unit, Descriptions けいよう, you should spend time doing vocabulary activities and drilling vocabulary (flashcards) at least 15 minutes daily. You should practice writing kanji and kana or any other vocabulary that you are having difficulty learning.

At this point you should also have developed some tool to help yourself learn the Japanese language when you are not online working. You should either take notes to study later or make lists of vocabulary that you can study or even teach someone else.
