Himeji Castle
This Himeji Castle, also called "Shirasagijo" (White Heron Castle) due to its brilliant white exterior, is located in Himeji of Hyogo prefecture about 50 km west of Osaka. It is one of the oldest surviving structures of medieval Japan. It has been designated a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site and a Japanese National Cultural Treasure. It serves a classic example of Japanese castle architecture.
