The Word です

です in あついです and あめです conjugates differently. The former is い adjective polite form and the latter is Noun + copulaです polite form. You can see the differences between them in the negative forms.

くもりです くもりじゃないです or くもりじゃありません	あめです あめじゃないですor あめじゃありません	はれです はれじゃないですor はれじじゃありません
