You have learned three different types of sentence endings: verbs, いadjectives, and なadjectives + です. Let’s review their affirmative and negative forms. Give the negative form for each affirmative form.

Verb:

Affirmative Form Negative Form
あります

たべます

 

いadjective:

Affirmative Form Negative Form
あかいです
かわいいです
おおいです
すくない
たべたいです*

 

* たべます is a verb but たべたいです (and all other たいです expressions to express desire) conjugates in the same way as いadjectives do.

な adjective:

Affirmative Form Negative Form
すきです
きらいです
きれいです
ハンサムです
