Quadrilaterals and Polygons: Polygons

think icon Think & Click: More Exterior Angles in a Polygon

Let’s practice some more. Complete the Think & Click activity by looking at each problem below, thinking about it, and then clicking on the question to reveal the solution..

1.  Find the value of x.

heptagon with exterior angles of measure 93 degrees, 2x degrees, x degrees, 32 degrees, 5x plus 2 degrees, 48 degrees and 4x plus 5 degrees.

93 + 2x + x + 32 + 5x + 2 + 48 + 4x + 5 = 360
12x + 180 = 360
12x = 180
x = 15

2. If the measure of each exterior angle of a regular polygon is 24°, determine how many sides the polygon has.

Solution:
24n = 360
n = 15

3. Find the measure of angle PLM

Quadrilateral with exterior angles of measure 86 degrees, 84 degrees, 97 degrees and exterior angles PLM does not have a measure given.

Solution:
86 + 84 + 97 + x = 360
267 + x = 360

x = 93°
