Squares, Rectangles and Rhombi: Introduction
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, or so the saying goes. What is a diamond, and what are the properties of a diamond? Why do diamonds sparkle the way they do? Although we will not answer this last question (that will be left up to your science teacher) we will look at the properties of diamonds. The geometric term is rhombus. We will look at properties of squares, rectangles and rhombi (plural for rhombus), so that when you do begin to learn about the sparkle of a diamond and its various cuts, you will be familiar with the geometry involved.
