Right Angles and Perpendicular Lines

Recall that a right angle measures exactly 90°. The sides of a right angle are said to be perpendicular to one another.

If two intersecting lines or segments form 90° angles around the point of intersection, they are called perpendicular lines.

The perpendicular relationship between two lines or segments is denoted by the symbol " symbol that looks like an upside-down capital T". For example, line segment A Bis perpendicular toline segment C D means that line segment A B and line segment C D are perpendicular to one another.
