Section Warm-Up
This section will draw on your ability to graph figures on a coordinate plane. Let’s review that now.
Think & Click: Section Warm-UpComplete the Think & Click activity by looking at each problem below, thinking about it, and then clicking on the question to reveal the solution.
1. Plot the points X (1, 3), Y (-3, 4) and Z (3, -2) on the coordinate plane.
The points X, Y and Z |
2. Describe how to get from point A to point A’. How are their coordinates related?
Points A and A’ |
A’ is 4 units to the right and 2 units down from point A. The x-coordinate of point A’ (x = 4) is 4 more than the x-coordinate of point A (x = 0). The y-coordinate of point A’ (y = 1) is 2 less than the y-coordinate of point A (y = 3).
3. Describe the difference between point B and point B’. How are their coordinates related?
Points B and B’ |
B is to the left and up from the origin, while B’ is to the right and down from the origin. Their coordinates are switched, (-2, 4) and (4, -2).
