CultureLes cafés à Paris
Sidewalk cafés are very common all over Paris for several reasons. In the warmer times of theParisian sidewalk cafe year, it is more pleasant to sit outside since many cafés and small restaurants (brasseries) do not use air conditioning. The atmosphere is nice in these sidewalk cafés and people tend to enjoy sitting to visit for a while in the very historic city.

These sidewalk cafés generally offer a varied menu with many of them having their own specialties. According to French law, restaurants must post their menus with prices outside of the restaurant so that you don't have any surprises when you get in.

You can be prepared for just about anything in a Parisian café--indoors or outdoors. Many people bring their dogs right in to the restaurants with them and for the most part, there are no non-smoking sections in the restaurants or cafés.
