General Organization Structure (1 of 2)
If your thesis is the blueprint that provides the direction for your project, then the way you organize the content (the organization structure) is the framework, or the bones of the project. It will give you the map to use to create your presentation.
Follow the steps below to open the appropriate graphic organizer for your presentation:
- Open your completed Writing Assignment: A Spark Worksheet
- Look at the first table in the worksheet.
- Find the row labeled "Organizational Structure" (See yellow highlight below.)
Topic | memento mori in Hamlet |
Purpose | To Inform |
Audience | People who have read and studied Hamlet |
Main Question | What is memento mori in Hamlet? |
Organizational Structure | Exemplification/Definition |
Preliminary Thesis | Shakespeare’s Hamlet revolves around the Latin concept of Memento Mori, or the remembrance of mortality, which is seen in the symbols and events of the play, as well as the motivations of the main character. |
- Now open the Graphic Organizers Resource
- Find the Graphic Organizer that has the same label as your "Organizational Structure."
- Copy that Organizer and Paste it onto a separate Word document.
(You will learn how to fill it in just a moment)
In the example, Exemplification/Definition is the correct Organizational Pattern based on the Main Discovery Question. To review how organizational patterns are related to the main question, open the Organizational Pattern Chart The structure you have selected should be the one that best fits your main discovery question.
Using the discovery question drill down chart from the Writing Assignment: A Spark Worksheet you completed, you can now complete the graphic organizer. Go to the next page to see an example of how the drill down chart corresponds to the graphic organizer.
