Section Warm-Up
So you want to know what everyone else will be wearing to the writing journey presentation party? That is only natural. As you know, having models to look at is priceless. Read the following research presentations and answer the questions that follow.
Read the research presentation at Diana Hacker Handbooks.
View the Using Cost Segregation to Retain Business presentation.
Which of these research presentations is dressed up right and which is less than stellar?
The PowerPoint Presentation is lacking ATTRIBUTION and commentary. It has no hook or rhetorical devices. The Diana Hacker essay is complete and has a full Works Cited page, so it is dressed up right.
To complete your project in style, you will need:
- A hook in the presentation’s opening (a way to draw the audience in).
- A clincher at the end of the presentation (a strong ending line that the audience will remember).
- A strong thesis to direct the purpose of the presentation.
- Logical organization so readers can easily follow your ideas.
- Connections and transitions (commentary that connects each piece of evidence to the thesis and transitions that link ideas to each other).
- Media enhancements (images, sound, charts, graphs, maps, etc.).
This section will help you with these skills.
