Super Tuesday
As each state holds either its primary or caucus to select delegates, candidates try to gain momentum to carry them to the nomination. These contents serve as elimination rounds where candidates that fail to get votes drop out of the race. When candidates fail to win in one state, their ability to raise money to compete in other states declines.
On the first Tuesday in February, 24 states hold either a caucus or a primary. This date is called Super Tuesday because usually it’s a make or break day for presidential campaigns.
