Registering to Vote

Voter registration is required by state laws designed to prevent corruption. The purpose is to prevent people from voting more than once. States vary in how they require people to register. The 1993 Motor Voter Act requires states to allow eligible voters to register by simply checking a box on their driver’s license application or renewal form.
