Form
Musical form describes the layout of an entire piece of music. Typically different sections of music are combined to form a larger work. The sections can have names like introduction, first verse, interlude, chorus, ending, etc. Capital letters are used to designate each segment of the form. If a segment is repeated the letter is simply written again. A song that is organized verse-chorus-verse would be labeled ABA. Other examples of forms might be AABA, ABACA, AAAA, or ABABA.
Here is a simple song that has the form AAB. Listen to the recording to gain an understanding of form.
