The focus of this unit was talking about yourself. You learned to say your own name, (すみす)です; you leaned to say where you live, (おおさか)に すんでいます; and you leaned to say where you are from, しゅっしんは (おおさか)です. In Section One, you also learned how to ask someone what is his/her name, おなまえは なんですか; how to ask someone where he or she lives, どこに すんでいますか; and how to ask someone where he or she is from, しゅっしんは どこですか.

In addition, you have learned various useful expressions to greet, say farewell, and introduce yourself. You also learned to read and write thirty ひらがな Hiragana so far. There are sixteen more that you will learn in this section.
