Lab D Overview
Overview
In Lab D, you will create a photomontage using multiple images. This lab will review selection and will teach you how to select the inverse of a selection. Selected areas can be modified using the Select > Modify > Feather technique to soften edges. To create areas of transparency you will adjust the layer's opacity.
This lab introduces the concept of photomontage using 4 layers; a photomontage can be created using as few as 2 layers or as many as you choose. Photomontage lends itself to multiple interpretations as it promotes experimentation.
Objectives
Upon completion of Lab D, students will:
- Utilize the Select Inverse features to toggle between positive and negative space in a photograph
- Navigate layers by making them visible and turning them off to select specific images in a psd file
- Apply a Select > Modify > Feather to create soft edges on images
- Review layers by creating, copying, renaming, and reordering them
- Adjust a layer’s opacity to create transparent effects
- Create a photomontage comprised of 4 layers of varying opacity
