Long Vowels: ee and oo
You might have noticed that the second vowel in ee and oo have are usually written with い and う. For example:
とけい tokee (clock, watch)
とうふ toofu (tofu)
There are some words in which the second vowel in ee and oo are actually written in え and お. For example:
おねえさん oneesan (older sister)
こおり koori (ice)
