Family Planning
How important is it to plan for having a child? Let's look at some of the factors to think about when considering if and when you should have a child. Lifestyle is one factor. Birthing and raising a child takes a lot of time. Instead of going out with friends or practicing with the team after school, that time is now devoted to taking care of the baby. Most teenagers probably are not ready to become parents because a baby wouldn't fit in their lifestyle. There will be times in your life where it is convenient, practical and you are ready to have and care for a child. Family planning, birth control or contraceptives...whatever you call it, means planning the timing of a pregnancy.
There are several factors you should consider when choosing a method of contraception. They include:
- Effectiveness
- Cost
- Safety/side effects
- Reversible
- Protection against STDs
