Risk Factors and Health

A risk factor is anything that increases your risk of injury, disease, or any health problem.

Types of Risk Factors

Below is a list of different factors that can become risks. Although you have no control over them, you should be aware of how they influence your health.

Research from 2004 through 2012 indicates that genetics and coronary artery disease are connected. Just because you have a family history of coronary artery disease doesn’t mean you will develop the disease, but it is important to be aware of this family history and monitor your health.

Diet and exercise also lower the risk of many of these factors. As well, you can make healthy food choices and exercise each week. The idea here is to focus on those things you can control, thereby lowering the odds of being affected by one of these risk factors that you cannot control.
