N'Ajjer National Park, Algeria
The Tassili n'Ajjer is a mountain range in the Sahara desert in southeast
Algeria. The Tassili N'Ajjer National Park is considered by UNESCO as
a World Heritage site. Its strange lunar landscape has one of the world's
most important collection of prehistoric cave art. Over 15,000 drawings
and engravings show the climatic changes, the animal migrations and the
evolution of human life on the edge of the Sahara from 6,000 BC to the
first centuries of the present era.
The Tassili Plateau is known for it weird eroded formations of sandstone.
