Bienvenue à Le temps libre

walking on beach

In Le temps libre, we are going to talk more about leisure time activities in the French-speaking world, and in your own world--the things that you like to do in your spare time. One very popular activity is to go to the beach. Since many of the French-speaking countries have beaches on one coast at least, people love going to the beach to spend some of their free time. Est-ce que tu aimes nager?

Culture ProjectLe projet
Your project for this unit is to do research on some activity that you find interesting that is done in a French-speaking country. Here's a list of sports that many people find dangerous, but many other love to do, especially in France. Choose one.

l'escalade le canyoning
la parapente l'alpinisme
le kayak le VTT

You'll find a link for each sport.

Make sure you cover the following information and include your photo essay:

  • what the activity is
  • where it is practiced
  • pictures of it
  • what equipment or uniform is needed to do this
  • the history of this activity
  • famous people who play this or do this activity
  • why you found this an interesting activity to do

There will be four deadlines throughout the unit for this project. They are:

  • First deadline: idea and brainstorming (5 points)
  • Second deadline: outline of your project (5 points)
  • Third deadline: rough draft (5 points)
  • Fourth deadline: final project (25 points)

Go to Projet 1A to turn in the assignment.

This assignment is worth 40 points. The first deadline is due now.
