Rational Functions: Direct and Inverse Variation

Inverse Variation

Inverse variation is the opposite of direct variation. If y increases, x decreases, or vice-versa.

Inverse Variation

Inverse variation is defined as follows:
A relationship between two variables in which the product is a constant is inverse variation.

The variable varies inversely as y if there is a nonzero number k such that xy = k or y equals k divided by x. Once again k is called the constant of variation.
