When President Barak Obama said in his inaugural address "We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and nonbelievers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth," he acknowledged the diversity of our heritage as a nation of immigrants.
Each wave of immigration to this country has brought political beliefs as well as cultural, language, and religious differences with them. This diversity of backgrounds does provide one way to understand public opinion in America.
