Systems of Equations and Inequalities: Systems of Equations with Three Variables

Systems of Equations with Three Variables: Introduction

three by three matrix containing coefficients of the three variables from the three equations, times three by one matrix containing x y and z, equals three by one matrix containing the constants from each equation

Earlier in this course, we learned how to solve one equation with one variable.  We then learned how to solve two equations with two variables.  Each time you add one more variable to a system of equations, you must also add one more equation. If you are solving for two variables, you need two equations. If you are solving for three variables, you need three equations, and so on. In this section we will be discussing how to solve systems of equations with three variables. We will be going back to using matrices to solve these types of equations and we will be utilizing technology to help us with the process.
