The time of services during ESY cannot exceed current school year IEP services. ESY services may look

different from the student’s regular school year services and may be provided in another location. The

CSC must carefully consider the frequency and duration of services necessary to address the identified

needs and purpose of the ESY instruction for each student. Not all students need to attend the same

schedule of sessions; for example: an ESY program may be offered five days per week in the summer,

but some students may only need to attend three sessions per week.

The length of ESY services should be based on student need and decided by the CSC team of which the

parent is a member. ESY services are provided by qualified personnel (e.g. certified

teachers/professionals). Progress reports are submitted in accordance with specifications of the IEP and

CSC.

Upon completion of ESY, the CSC meets to review student performance and progress and determines if

the IEP requires modification (e.g. updated PLAAFPs or goals).
