Implications for DoDEA Adoption and Implementation of the NCAS
are complex. Instructional shifts, curriculum
development, shared best practices and student assessments are all teacher-based essential endeavors DoDEA
must begin to undertake as we implement the NCAS. Future professional development opportunities will ad-
dress these needs and allow for careful planning and collaboration among arts teachers for backward-program
design. The NCAS are rigorous, and they need to be intentionally implemented. Together, we will develop
teacher-based, district- and Headquarters-supported arts programs
The adoption of NCAS ensures rigor, will provide benchmarks for all students, and will prepare our students to
be best positioned for success in the global economy. As military-connected students move into and out of Do-
DEA and United States public schools, their arts education will not be disrupted.
