Jabber
Jabber is the instant messaging system used in the DoDEA Virtual High School. During the regular school year, Jabber should already be installed on specific computers at school used by students enrolled in a DoDEA Virtual High School course and on the DoDEA issued laptops used by our DVHS instructors. However for Summer School, instructors are requested to install Jabber on the computer that they will be using to communicate synchronously with students during Summer School. To install it at home, please follow the directions below.
Jabber Installation at Home
To install Jabber at home, please do the following:
- Right click the link, Jabber Installation.
- Select the option that reads, "Save Target As..."
- Save it onto your local computer.
- Double click it to install it.
- Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.
After you have installed Jabber on your home computer, please open the appropriate attached PDF file to read the instructions for using Jabber on a Windows PC or Apple computer.
