Reading for Meaning is a Core Six Strategy that offers readers methods to help them interpret difϐicult and
complex texts. According to Silver, Dewing and Perini (2012), students break down “critical reading” into
“three phases”:
1.
Before reading
: Preview and predict
2.
During reading
: Search for relevant information
3.
After reading
: Reϐlect on learning
