Depression and the New Deal: Introduction

The 1920s ended in economic troubles for many. The people’s struggles created a climate primed for change. In this section we will examine the events of the stock market crash of 1929. We will view life during the Great Depression and compare the philosophical differences of two presidential candidates who wanted to guide the country out of the economic slump. Lastly, we will identify key legislation that provided the New Deal for Americans under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
