Slater’s Continued Success
By 1798, Slater was able to branch out and build his own company, which was also in Pawtucket. Little by little, Slater built factories throughout New England. He was so successful that at the time of his death in 1835, his estimated worth was around one million dollars.
Slater is viewed as successful because of more than just his financial gains. His contributions within the textile industry led other investors to mimic his machinery and methods. He gave rise to a new market within the United States and enabled others to reap the financial benefits of his designs.
