Ovulation Cycle

The first step to becoming pregnant is ovulation. It starts approximately 14 days after the menstrual period begins. Ovulation occurs when a mature egg is released from the ovary into the fallopian tube and can be fertilized by sperm. Changes in hormone levels trigger ovulation. To estimate when ovulation occurred, count back 14 days from the first day of menstruation. If the egg is not fertilized, it passes through the uterus, and is passed out of the body with the lining of uterus.
