Advertising health products has long been part of advertising in the U.S., and although it is illegal for advertisers of health products to knowingly make false or deceptive claims for their product, consumers must remain skeptical.

Although it is illegal to make unsupported claims about products, there are many products on the market today that are not scientifically studied that still make nebulous claims. Many advertisements are designed to appeal to our lack of knowledge, our egos, or our private wants and desires, so that we ignore the lack of scientific support for the product. This is why it is important for the consumer to be aware of the advertising techniques used to sell these products.

In this tutorial, we will look at some of the most common advertising techniques used to sell products so that you can beware and be aware.
