Key ConceptMon frère ou ton frère?
Some time ago, we learned to talk who things belonged to using "my" and "your." Do you remember those? Let's review:

C'est mon frère. Ce sont mes frères.
C'est ton frère. Ce sont tes frères.

Do you remember that they each have a singular and a plural form? These small words are called possessive (because they show possession) adjectives (because they describe nouns). Form a sentence here saying that these things are yours.

Writing Practice

Les frères
Les parents
La mère
Le père
La maison
Le sac
La famille
Les cousins

How did you do? If you are having trouble remembering the new vocabulary or concepts you are learning, you might need some clues about how best to study vocabulary in a foreign language. If this is your case, please be in contact with your teacher. Also remember that in activities such as the one above, if you would like to do it again, you can refresh the page or simply reload it and you will have the chance to try it again.

Now, using the same cues, say that these items are not yours--they belong to a friend you are talking to, so you are going to say, they are yours.

Les frères
Les parents
La mère
Le père
La maison
Le sac
La famille
Les cousins

When a feminine noun begins with a vowel sound, we use "ton" even though though the noun is feminine.

ton amie
