Introduction
Bienvenue à La famille!
This young French family takes
a break to pose for a picture. The French love to get out of their homes
or apartments on weekends or in their free time to enjoy the many parks
in their cities. In Unit Seven, we are going to learn to talk about the
people in our own families as well as talk about family celebrations in
the French-speaking world.
La Famille
In this unit, we are going to learn how to talk about our families and say
some basic things about the members of our families. You should be developing
methods that will help you learn French easily, but if you are still having
difficulty, be sure to stay in constant communication with your teacher
so that you can inquire as to other or additional methods that might help
you. You must keep in mind that fluency in French (or any foreign language)
does not happen over night. It may seem to be a very slow process to you
but it is one that is achieved the more you practice and seek ways to
use your new skills.
In La Famille you will:
- talk about your family members
- talk about your family members birthdays and ages
- review dates and numbers
- investigate cultural practices in French families
- learn possessive adjectives
- research holidays in the French-speaking world
- learn additional cognates
- learn additional verbs and how they work in French
As you work, keep in mind the symbols that will help you to remember what it is you are going to be doing throughout the course. If you have forgotten those, you can look back at them to keep them in mind.
