Module 4: Section 1
Introduction: How do Authors Develop Story Elements?
In this module, you will continue to learn more about the ways that authors develop elements of a story, such as character and plot. If you remember from previous modules, the elements of a story can include:
- Setting: Where and when does the story take place?
- Characters: Who is included in the story?
- Plot: What are the main events of the story?
- Resolution: What happens once the conflict is dealt with?
Additionally, you may be asked to comment on the point of view, or the perspective from which the story is told, as well as any themes that you can identify. At this point in the course, you have gained experience in citing evidence from the text to support your insight and analysis into a work of literature. You will continue to use these skills in this module’s activities!
As part of this section’s activities, you will review some basic concepts of grammar and writing conventions that you most likely were introduced to in previous school years. Make sure to work through each activity carefully and practice using your skills in each subsequent writing activity!
