Mass Movement: Introduction
These cars were damaged when the road suddenly collapsed underneath them. The ground could not support the road after several days of intense rain which made the soil slippery and saturated. Once the ground could take no more, there was a massive slope failure with large amounts of material tumbling downhill. This is an example of mass movement which you will learn about in this section.
