Weathering and Soils
Arches National Park in Moab, Utah is a dramatic example of how the atmosphere interacts with solid materials on Earth. This graceful sandstone arch formed during millions of years of exposure to the elements of the atmosphere. In this unit you will learn how the forces of wind, water, and gravity combine to break down rocks and soil; transport them from one place to another; create beautiful landscape features, like this one; and how this process is directly responsible for the formation of soil.
