Our political culture also has an impact on our ideology. Ideology is an organized set of beliefs about the purpose and scope of government (what government should do.) American ideology is generally divided into two camps, liberal and conservative, with most Americans falling somewhere in between, referred to as moderate. And while we may disagree on the purpose of government, we can and do still agree on the political culture, which are our common values about how government should be conducted.
