Welcome
Welcome, DoDEA educators to the SAT Mathematics Webinar instructional website. There are eight total changes in the redesigned SAT. We will focus on the three changes for mathematics. The changes in mathematics include:
- Focus on math content that matters the most
- Problems grounded in real-world contexts
- Scoring of the test and use of calculators
During this webinar, we willl use sample problems written to demonstrate how the redesigned test will focus on the most important math content for college and career readiness, how those problems will often be set in a context of real-world applications and how calculator specifications impact the level of questioning. As we move through all three of these key changes, take note of the level of rigor or the level of cognitive demand with which students are expected to engage with the mathematics.
Purpose
The purpose of this webinar is to provide professional development for high school math teachers and principals about the upcoming changes in mathematics for the SAT, how these changes impact expected levels of rigor in student responses, and how this impacts classroom instruction.
Learner Outcomes
By the end of this webinar, participants will have:
- Learned about the changes in mathematics planned for the SAT;
